Sakhalin State University joined Climate Partnership of Russia
Sakhalin State University (SakhSU) has become the newest member of the Climate Partnership of Russia. The memorandum of accession was signed as part of the development of climate dialogue between science, business, and regional authorities.

"The signing of the memorandum on Sakhalin State University's accession to the Russian Climate Partnership is an important step for our university and the entire region. Sakhalin Oblast is a pilot region in Russia for the climate experiment, where a unique infrastructure for achieving carbon neutrality is being created. Sakhalin State University's accession to the Partnership will allow us to share our experience in implementing climate projects with other regions of the Russian Federation and build effective collaborations."
Irina Akhmedova, Director of the Climate Center at Sakhalin State University and Head of the Greenhouse Gas Validation and Verification Authority at Sakhalin State University:
"By joining the Russian Climate Partnership, we gain a platform for combining efforts and sharing best practices in low-carbon development and combating climate change. As part of our partnership, we plan to actively develop cooperation in educational and scientific-practical areas. One of the first joint activities will be the implementation of an additional educational program with representatives of RUSAL and En+, in the form of advanced training courses for representatives of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation (https://dpo.sakhgu.ru/course/cmp6ozizs000mkmlcej2c6viu), who have decided to replicate the "Sakhalin experiment." The program will be implemented with the support of the Sakhalin Oblast Government and aims to disseminate best regional practices for low-carbon development, the Sakhalin Oblast's successful experience in implementing a regional carbon management system, and achieving carbon neutrality and environmental benefits.
I am confident that cooperation within the Partnership will provide new opportunities for the implementation of natural and climate projects in the Sakhalin Region, which are necessary for restoring ecosystems and maintaining the territories' resilience to climate change."
