The Northern Forum joined the Climate Partnership of Russia

Yakutsk/Moscow, November 27. A signing ceremony for the memorandum on the organization's accession to the Climate Partnership took place at the Northern Sustainable Development Forum held in Yakutsk.

Olga Sanarova, Chair of the Russian Climate Partnership Organizing Committee, spoke at the plenary session of the Northern Forum, describing the Partnership and its objectives, as well as the specifics of the climate agenda in Russian business: "The Partnership unites those who see climate change not only as challenges but also as new opportunities for business, the country, and international cooperation. Our shared goal is to consolidate the efforts of business, science, and public organizations aimed at reducing the negative impact on the environment and preventing climate change."

"The Northern Forum's accession to the Russia Climate Partnership is an important step in strengthening joint efforts to adapt to climate change and preserve the unique natural environment of the North. Our forum has long brought together experts and regions to find solutions to the environmental challenges of the Arctic and the North, and joining the partnership will make these efforts even more effective," noted Vladimir Vasiliev, Executive Director of the Northern Forum.

The Arctic Research Center of Yakutia played a special role in establishing relations between the Forum and the Partnership, whose research on the climate and ecosystems of the North may form the basis for future joint projects.

The Northern Sustainable Development Forum is an annual international expert platform, established in 2019. It brings together regions and experts to discuss the challenges and prospects for sustainable development in the North and the Arctic. The forum's main topics are typically related to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including climate change, infrastructure development, and the protection of traditional indigenous cultures.
